This fossil represents a skull fragment of Squalodon, an extinct genus of early toothed whales. Squalodon lived during the Oligocene to early Miocene and is known for its elongated rostrum and differentiated teeth, showing an important evolutionary stage between primitive whales and modern dolphins.
Unlike modern whales, Squalodon retained sharp, triangular teeth used for grasping prey, indicating a predatory lifestyle. This specimen preserves part of the elongated skull structure, offering insight into early cetacean anatomy and marine mammal evolution.
